An erstwhile Secretary to Ebonyi Government, Professor Benard Odoh, on Sunday won the gubernatorial ticket of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA to contest for the 2023 polls in the state.
Announcing the results at the APGA Secretariat in Ebonyi, the Chairman of the party's electoral committee in the state, Samson Olalere, said that Prof Odoh grabbed all the votes for having competed with no rival during the exercise.
He announced that Odoh polled 513 votes to emerge as the flag bearer of the party during the primary election.
In his remarks, the APGA governorship candidate, Prof. Odoh, described his victory as the beginning of the liberation for the Ebonyi people during his practical trip.
He described APGA as the only feasible party in the state, saying that the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party have been wounded beyond rescue by troubles characterising them.
He urged all and sundry especially the southeastern people to support the APGA in their states while expressing the conviction that the party philosophy would contribute a lot to boosting the regional economy, among other possibilities.
His words: "First of all, on behalf of all the candidates of APGA, we feel highly delighted that the Party finally found it worthy to fly its flag in Ebonyi State, and the opportunity it offers us for the people's development and prosperity.
"We want to let Ebonyians know that as of today, we are the only party not having crises; we are standing strong, and we don't have parallel elections going on in the State.
"The other two parties: APC and PDP are in crisis, and the crises are not going to end. We are pleading to our people not to waste their votes, but to give them to us. This is the time to seek Southeast political economy.
"APGA has come to stay.
"We want to have a party that is ready to create prosperity for our people; a party that respects human dignity; a party that believes that our people deserve the best, and that is what we represent.
If we are elected into office in Ebonyi State, we are going to develop policies that would improve our education sector because right now, our education sector is dead.
"Environment for doing business will be healthy; taxes that are killing businesses will be reviewed, and unnecessary levies will be stricken off. We want to assure our Civil Servants that there is a new dawn in this opportunity..."
