The Ebonyi chapter of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), has described the conduct of the State House of Assembly primary election in the state as transparent and hitch-free.
Mr Victor Nnadiegwe, Chairman of the Screening Committee in the state, remarked while speaking with newsmen after the exercise on Saturday in Ezza-North East, Ezza-North Local Government Area of the state, in which Mr Joseph Okezie won the PRP ticket to contest for the state house of Assembly.
Okezie scored 24 votes of the 25 available votes to win the ticket.
The other aspirant, MMrSolomon Uchendu, did not scale the screening.
According to Nnadiegwe, the process that threw up Okezie was transparent and in compliance with the electoral Act.
He said that the flag bearer is a grass-roots candidate for the people.
The committee chairman further commended Okezie for the way he ran his campaign and urged him to keep the flag flying to win in 2023.
“For the contestant to have purchased the nomination and expression of interest form and scaled through screening, it is a ‘go’ for him.
Mr Okezie, who is to represent his people in the State House of Assembly, said he was happy over the peaceful conduct of the primary.
“The process is free, fair and transparent because it was handled by experts.
“The people have spoken; They want a change for the constituency and I can affect the change if elected,” Okezie said.
Our reporter observed that the Ezza-North-East constituency has five wards.
The exercise featured representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the five ward Chairmen, secretaries, youths and women leaders of the PRP in the area.
