Joint Security Operatives (JSO) have apprehended two suspects who are believed to be native doctors preparing charms for the notorious criminals popularly called Unknown Gunmen –wreaking havoc in the southeast.
The Joint Security Operatives involving the Department of State Security Service, military and police arrested the suspects on Monday, as they trailed and dislodged the hideouts of the hoodlums responsible for the attack on a police patrol team and the killing of a police officer in Ebonyi State.
The suspected native doctors were identified as 50 years old Irem Ogbeji Nwaduma; and Itumo Edeh Omukwor, who is 63 years old. They are both from Ndufu Echara Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
This was disclosed in a statement by the State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASPP Chris Anyanwu, during a press briefing at the Police Headquarters on Wednesday.
Five suspected combatants of the notorious criminal gang were killed and two others were captured by the security operatives.
While carrying out the successful invasion, weapons and live ammunition were recovered by the security operatives from the notorious criminal gang.
Expressing concern about the current security challenges being faced in the southeast region, SP Anyanwu advised Ebonyi residents to assist security operatives with plausible intelligence reports on the activities of the criminals. - Sahara Reporters.
