Ebonyi Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. Ogbonnaya Obasi Abara has assured Nigerians that the Governor of the State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi has all the required capacity to take the nation to an enviable level of international standard of development in every aspect of the social sector using his Engineering ingenuity as a driving compass.
The commissioner gave this assurance on Wednesday when he received members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Abakaliki branch who was on a courtesy visit to him in his office. He said that Governor Umahi has made the Engineering profession and the professionals proud through his demonstration of excellent professionalism in dispensing governance to the people. He pointed out that the Governor’s innumerable achievements for the people and government of Ebonyi State have brought a robust economic advancement among the communities of the State who have been linked together through access roads adding that transportation of agricultural produce into and outside the communities has been made very easy by provisions of roads, bridges and flyovers.
Engr. Obasi Abara who was also the founding Secretary of the Nigerian Society of Engineers Abakaliki branch called on members to emulate the Governor’s attributes and put in their best towards nation building stressing that only the Engineers have the faculty to build a better society. He thanked the Governor for appointing him to the State Executive Council which according to him was a rare opportunity for him to contribute to the development of the state and the society in general and maintained that for governor Umahi to emerge the president of Nigeria in 2023 will certainly mean the birth of a new nation.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and chairman, of the Nigerian Society of Engineers Abakaliki branch, Engr. Enyinnaya Eni appreciated Governor David Nweze Umahi for his choice of Engr. Obasi Abara as the Commissioner, Ministry of Works and Transport and as well extolled Engr. Ababa for his commitment to the Governor’s transformational policy which was optimally embedded in infrastructural revolution.
The NSE Chairman commended the State Government for providing a parcel of land for the Abakaliki branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers secretariat and also requested a Government assistant to develop the secretariat. He pledged unalloyed support of the group to Engr. David Nweze Umahi led the administration and its subsequent successors.
The group were received by the Commissioner alongside the team of the Management Staff of the Ministry including directors and Heads of Departments.
