Ebonyi State Commissioner for Aviation and Transport Technology, Mrs Ngozi Obichukwu on Tuesday revealed the committed efforts of the state governor, Francis Nwifuru in ensuring speedy completion of the 13.7bilion Naira Chuba Okadigbo's airport runway.
The N13.7 billion Chuba Okadigbo's airport runway was awarded to the Infrastructure Development Company, IDC, and it's billed to take a maximum period of eight months for its completion.
Obichukwu, who spoke to newsmen in Abakaliki capital of Ebonyi State, however, commended the governor, Francis Nwifuru for mobilizing the contractor to the site.
The commissioner, Obichukwu said that the runway, if completed as desired by the governor, Francis Nwifuru, will boost the economic viability/development of the state by a greater percentage.
She said that the contractor, IDC, through the efforts of the governor, Francis Nwifuru, had deployed numerous pieces of equipment, and installed an Asphalt plant, and ready for the rehabilitation of the Chuba Okadigbo's airport runway, Onueke Ezza South LGA.
She said: "The installation of the Asphalt plant is ongoing, the contractor has started casting the Asphalt plant base before installation of the components.
"From my site seeing, I confirm some of their construction equipment that is on the ground such as Excavator, Bulldozer, pay-loader, crane, water tanker, truck, Bituminous tank and paver machine."
The commissioner, Obichukwu further stated that more machines are still on the way such as vibration roller, milling machine, grader and others.
She said that the surveyor team had almost concluded their work on the Chuba Okadigbo's International Airport runway readings, and however, vowed to ensure that the contractor, IDC, delivered on quality projects.
