Barrister Eni Uduma Chima (PhD).
The former All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for Afikpo North and South Federal Constituency, House of Representatives, in the 2023 general election, Barr. (Dr.) Eni Uduma Chima has said, that the ruling of the Supreme Court on the Ebonyi Governorship election was in tandem with the wishes and aspirations of the Ebonyi people.
The former Lawmaker who expressed happiness over the development, emphasized that the judgement by the Apex Court was an expression, that the mandate of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru was freely given by the people of the State.
Eni stated this while addressing newsmen in Abakaliki.
According to the former Council boss of Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Governor Nwifuru's administration would impact positively on the lives of Ebonyi people and the State in general.
He called on his teeming supporters to remain calm, law-abiding and cheerful as he was poised to contest the next general election in 2027, to represent his constituency at the National Assembly.
He said: "I am so happy the way the ruling of the Supreme went. It was an expression that the mandate was freely given. There was no point for the opposition to have gone to Court. However, It is also important that they went about it in the proper channel, to ventilate their grievances.
"The judgement is in tandem with the wishes and aspirations of the people.
"The opposition should put their houses in order. The opposition's position is important for democracy to thrive. I have cause to worry about the opposition.
"They should come up with strong platforms for people to contest elections. I am in APC. My Ward gave the Governor enough votes that guarantee his victory, especially in Edda. I am not leaving APC. I am staying. Nobody advertised the Party more than myself in Edda LGA.
"The insinuation that I am leaving APC is not true. I am going to contest the next election and I am optimistic that I will win. We will keep contesting until we win.
"I want my teeming supporters to be calm, law-abiding and cheerful. The security agencies have been doing their job in Edda. What has been happening in Edda is the politicisation of the minimal security situation. The security situation in Edda is overhyped but in reality, Edda is very peaceful.
"We are doing well in terms of security. We have five military checkpoints in place in Edda alone. The Police, Military, and DSS among others are doing their best. So far, they have been professional in the discharge of their assignments as the right suspects in connection with the security hiccups in Edda are being apprehended."
Also, the newly sworn-in Special Assistant, SA to Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru on Youth Development, Mr. Okechukwu Chima who thanked the Governor for his appointment, promised to use his position to promote the agenda of the present administration in the State.
"The Governor must have researched and discovered my competence. My promise to him is that I will support and implement the agenda the Governor has for the State to the letter.
"The Supreme Court ruling is an affirmation of the will of the people. We already know that the Governor will win. The Governor is doing excellently well in all facets of human endeavours and the people are happy with him.
"The youths should get ready because the Governor is ready to train, uplift and give them a sense of belonging. Our Youths are going to be proud that Governor Nwifuru is handling the affairs of this State because he is a lover of youth empowerment and development."
