The New Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ebonyi, Elijah Willie, has pledged to uphold the values and principles of the corps while enshrining a new dawn in the command.
Willy said this on Wednesday in Abakaliki during the decoration of over 80 newly promoted officers of the command, noting that he will use his experience and leadership skills, to steer the command towards greater efficiency.
He pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him given the critical role the corps plays in safeguarding lives and public infrastructure.
"I recognise the dedication and hard work of the officers recently promoted within the ranks of the corps as their commitment to duty and outstanding service should be commended.
"I have absolute confidence in the newly promoted officers and urge them to continue their exemplary works thereby setting an example to their subordinates".
He stressed the need for professionalism, discipline, and strategic thinking as they assume their new roles within the command.
"I wish to emphasise the importance of continuous training and development to officers and encourage officers to enhance their skills and knowledge.
"I pledge to provide resources and opportunities for professional growth to ensure that the corps remains at the forefront of emergency preparedness and response.
"The corps under my watch will with commitment, work closely with sister agencies and communities to build a resilient and safe environment.
"The command assures the public that it would remain ready to respond promptly and effectively to emergencies or threats to the security of lives and properties".
The newly promoted officers in separate interviews thanked the commandant general of the corps. and his management for the promotion and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in them.
The newly promoted officers were from the ranks of inspectors to deputy commandants.
