The Immediate Past Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports in Ebonyi, Hon. Charles Akpuenika has felicitated his friend, the Member Representing Enugu North and South Fed. Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu on the award of the 2024 African Youth Development Medal by the Pan African Women Project (PAWP), in Monrovia, Liberia.
Akpuenika who is a Legislative Aide to the Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives described the award as deserving, befitting a man who has stood for accountability, enhancement of youths welfare and good governance.
The former commissioner noted that the award which was due to Atu's contributions to grassroots sports and public education, would spur him to use his legislative acumen and whirwhital to make laws which would promote good governance and youth development.
"This is a testament to the contributions of youths to national development and should be emulated by youths across the country.
"I have known him for several years and can testify that he is a role model who with dint of hard work and grace, attained his present political status as a federal lawmaker.
"I urge him not to rest on his oars but continue championing the cause of the youths and good governance to open doors for more youths in the society,"
Akpuenika said that receiving a prestigious award from a foreign group was no mean feat and shows the level of acceptability and impact such a recipient made on society.
"Such is the training impacted into us by our father and oracle of infrastructure in Nigeria, His Excellency Engr David Umahi to excel as youths and contribute meaningfully to the society.
"His team which performed marvellously during his eight-year reign and made Ebonyi a model to states in the country was dominated by youths.
"Even after his tenure, we who were part of that team are still glowing, excelling and contributing meaningfully to society in our various endeavours,"
He prayed to God to continue protecting, blessing and protecting Hon. Atu as he contributes to making endearing laws for Nigerians and promoting the cause of the youths.
