The Ebonyi State commissioner on aviation and transport technology, Mrs Ngozi Obichukwu has applauded Governor Francis Nwifuru and his wife, Mrs Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Ogbonna for uniting and giving women the chance to contribute to the development of the state.
Obichukwu made this known while speaking with newsmen to mark this year's International Women's Day celebration, titled 'Invest in Women, accelerate Progress' that took place at the ecumenical centre Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State.
She expressed gratitude to the governor, Francis Nwifuru for the opportunities given to Ebonyi women to contribute their quota towards the progress and development of the state.
She said: "Women should be celebrated because they are the neck of this administration. When you celebrate them, you empower them the more.
"If you come to Ebonyi state, women are contributing to the development of the state, courtesy of the pragmatic governor, Francis Nwifuru and his wife, Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Ogbonna Nwifuru.
"They have never been found wanting in any assignments given to them. And so, the women in the political appointments have been living up to the expectations, and that's why all women, both our mothers in the villages should be celebrated.
"With the orientation of the governor, Francis Nwifuru and capacity enhancement, the women of Ebonyi State are now very receptive, hospitable, and tolerant of each other. Before now, because of hunger, and the level of poverty in the state, women don't seem to like any other person who is well-to-do.
"This is because hunger is the acetate of hatred. But in this administration, the governor Francis Nwifuru, has abolished that kind of attitude. Women have realized that they must work hard to become useful and contribute to the development of society.
"Getting money does not lie on men alone, women do better in their businesses. And when you have something tangible you are doing, you will be able to sustain your family" she said.
The Aviation commissioner, Obichukwu equally commended the governor and the wife for their determination to empower over 130 indigent women of the state with over one million naira each.
She described the one million naira empowerment to 130 indigent women, that are slated from the 13 LGAs of the state, as a great booster to the women folk, and prayed for more vision, wisdom and knowledge for the governor to succeed in his administration.
