The Labour Party, LP has warned the Enugu State House of Assembly lawmakers against their alleged plans to shift camp to the People's Democratic Party, PDP.
PDP controls the Enugu State government, having won the March 18 gubernatorial election.
Consequently, political give-and-take plans by some LP lawmakers of the state house are ongoing, which may result in them shifting camp to the ruling PDP in the state.
LP, however, has threatened to declare vacant seats of the state lawmakers should they dump the party and defect to the ruling PDP.
The Enugu State LP Chairman, Casimir Agbo, issued the threat on Tuesday in a post on his social media wall.
According to Agbo, the LP was aware of the antics of some LP members of the Enugu Assembly who want to decamp to PDP.
”We are aware of the antics of some LP members of HOA who want to decamp to PDP. Their seats will be declared vacant,” he said.
It was gathered that the PDP controls the leadership of the State legislature even though it produced fewer seats in the house.
It could be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had in its released list after the 2023 general election said the party secured 14 seats out of the 24 seats.
The INEC’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity in Enugu State, Rex Achumie, issued the list detailing the names, constituencies, parties and number of votes scored by the members-elect at the March 18 election. - Daily Post.
