Abakaliki Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Stephen Ebere Nwogba, today led the stakeholders of the Amachi Community to present the newly elected traditional ruler of the community, HRH Eze Boniface Nkashi Nwokocha to the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Uchenna Igwe at his office in Abakaliki.
Earlier in his remarks, Hon. Nwogba who expressed his happiness, noted that before the election of Boniface Nwokocha, all the communities of Abakaliki Local Government had their traditional rulers excluding Amachi Community which stayed for nine years without an Eze after the demise of their former king but following the proclamation of the State Governor, His Excellency, Builder Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru that the communities without traditional rulers should strive to elect theirs, the people of Amachi Community after some deliberations, unanimously adopted Prince Boniface Nkashi Nwokocha to fill the vacancy.
The Council Boss, however, admonished the newly coronated Eze to always be of good conduct and to carry everybody along without fear or favour in the course of discharging his duties, while promising his continued support.
In his reaction, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Uchenna Igwe thanked the people of Amachi Community for their peaceful conduct during and after the election and advised them to remain united and to always support the programmes and policies of the state government, while assuring to keep in touch with the Governor so that the staff of office and other entitlements accrued to the Eze will be given to him in due time.
