The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State is gradually becoming a household party as another honourable member of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Celestine Ifeanyi Ogba representing Onicha East Constituency with his supporters defected from People's Democratic Party (PDP) to join the progressives family.
Hon. Ogba while addressing members of the press shortly after his official defection at the state party's office in Abakaliki, said that his decision to dump his former party for APC was informed by the leadership ingenuity of the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, whom he described as a leader who anchors his leadership pedestal on people's charter of needs.
Speaking further, the legislator noted that APC is the largest political party in Africa, and that the party in Ebonyi State is filled with credible members who share similar ideologies with him which could be gainfully employed to place the state at the desired fast lane of economic and socio-political development.
The State Chairman of the party, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha who received the defectors in his office, expressed fulfillment, having such caliber of people in the party, and advised others who are still peeping to join the moving train as the party has a very big room to accommodate whoever that wishes to be part of the progressives family, adding that his major interest as a party chairman was to see all Ebonyians joining hands together to build a better society and to save the state from all forms of relegations and neglects hitherto observed in the comity of states.
Similarly, the Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Valentine Okike emphasized that politics was not all about thuggery, hooliganism and social vices, but a means to make lives of the citizens more meaningful, stressing that the likes of Hon. Celestine Ogba with the best brains were needed for the party to do more exploits in delivering dividends of democracy to the people of Ebonyi State.
It could be recalled that few weeks back, a good number of staunch opposition party members decamped to APC in Ebonyi State, describing the present administration led by Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru as people's oriented government.
