His Royal Highness Eze Chukwuma Iteshi, Ezeoha De Second of Mbeke Ishieke Autonomous Community in Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
It was a fun fare at Mbeke Ishieke Autonomous Community on Wednesday, 22nd May 2024 as the people coronated their Traditional Ruler, His Royal Highness Eze Chukwuma Iteshi in a grand style.
The Traditional Ruler was elected and coronated at Ekebe Ishieke Community Primary School in Ebonyi Local Government Area.
In his acceptance speech, HRH Eze Chukwuma Iteshi, the Ezeoha De Second of Mbeke Ishieke Autonomous Community said he was going to reintroduce his father's scholarship program, saying his father's good legacies as a former Traditional Ruler of Ishieke Mgbomeze must be sustained in a more refined way to suit the present society.
Eze Iteshi stated that the reintroduction of his father's Scholarship program was to enable the children of the downtrodden in the community to have access to and acquire sound Education.
He recalled that the scholarship as was introduced by his late father, Late Eze Iteshi Nwenu was the ladder on which the likes of Gowin Nwebonyi, Justina Agbo of the blessed memories and Chief Goddy Ogbaga - former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria among others climbed to become what they are in the state.
Recall that the Community had trooped en mass last Saturday to enthrone their king, Chief Chukwuma Iteshi though, it was cancelled following the overbearing influence of the Senator representing Ebonyi North Central Senatorial Zone, Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi with his cronies to install his preferred candidate, Mr Peter Ukpamazi as against the wish of the Community.
The Coronation was rescheduled for Wednesday 22nd May 2024 at a different venue, this according to the people was to avoid a repeat of what transpired last Saturday.
Iteshi thanked his Mbeke Ishieke people for coming out in their numbers to support him adding that it would be insignificant if after now they desert him. He added that the joy of a king is seeing his people sited around him.
The new traditional ruler maintained that his father had a passion for education which made him introduce scholarship for the people of his Community adding that he had laid down rules which must be sustained for the betterment of society.
Chukwuma Iteshi, the Son of the former Traditional Ruler of Ishieke Mgbomeze Community, Eze Iteshi Nwenu who succeeded Eze Nwiboko Obodo of the blessed memory was a teacher and former Secretary of Local Education Authority, Ebonyi Local Government Area said he had dedicated his entire life to charity when he was an ordinary person how much more now he is a custodian of charity.
Earlier in his introductory remarks, the Custodian of the Culture (Ishiuke) in the Community, Chief Michael Nkwuda noted that Chukwuma Iteshi met all the requirements of becoming Eze in the Izhi clan and such with the powers confined in him he reserved the right to crown the Eze to the benefit of God and mankind.
Speaking on behalf of the Iteshi Nwenu dynasty, Chief Francis Iteshi said their family is a Royal Dynasty both paternal and Maternal as such his younger brother would not lack ideas to lead the people into prosperity.
Francis said Chukwuma's maternal and paternal grandfathers were kings which has trickled down to their generation, saying he had no doubt he was not going to do well on the throne.
In their goodwill messages, an Executive member of Oha Izhi Nnodo and the President General of Mbeke Ishieke Community, Barr Dickson Amaga, a top Stakeholder in the community - Chief Lazarus Eze, the Secretary-General Izhi Nnodo Youth Forum, Comrade Raymond Okokpa and the Reagent of the Community - Prince Igwe Akputa appreciated the people of the community for standing behind the new Eze during the time of trials and the Coronation proper.
