Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has enjoined Corps Members to be disciplined, dedicated and determined to excel in their Service Year.
Fubara gave the charge on Tuesday during the Closing Ceremony of 20 the 24 Batch A Stream II Orientation Course for Corps Members deployed to the state at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam in Tai Local Government Area.
The governor represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Hamilton Amadi, further charged the corps members to be focused on living up to the goals of the NYSC.
"You expected in the same vein, to play active and pivotal roles in uplifting the lives of the people of Rivers State.
"I also enjoin you to integrate with the people of the state by learning their languages and respecting their culture and traditions,".
The Coordinator of the NYSC in Rivers State, Mr. George Mfongang in his speech, extolled the corps members for their exceptional discipline, patriotism, commitment and passion for nation-building during the orientation course.
"You should be ready to become agents of positive change in your host communities and promote peace, equity and social justice at all times.
"I equally urge you to live above board and be role models in your places of Primary Assignment while taking the post-camp skill acquisition training very seriously,"
He expressed gratitude to Governor Fubara for his support of the scheme especially, in paying State Allowance to all corps members.
"I also thank the Nonwa and Gbam communities for ensuring a peaceful environment for the smooth and seamless conduct of the orientation exercise,".
The event was attended by dignitaries including the Paramount Ruler of Nonwa Tai, His Royal Highness, Mene Nyiedam Emmanuel among other dignitaries
