The stakeholders of the Ezza North local government area of Ebonyi State have declared their support for Hon Mark Okechukwu Mgbada, the Aspirant of the council's chairmanship position under the All Progressives Congress, APC.
They declared their support to Mgbada following his expression of his interest after the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission, EBSIEC fixed 20th July 2024 for the election of the 13 local government areas and 171 political wards in Ebonyi State.
The Council Chairmanship Aspirant, Mgbada who made this known to journalists on Sunday during the APC stakeholders meeting in Abakaliki, expressed joy over the massive support given to him by the elders, traditional rulers, other stakeholders and youth of his local government area since he indicated interest in the position.
He expressed confidence in winning the election, considering the unwavering support coming from his people.
Mgbada said: "My people have brought me out to contest the local government election. Both elders, traditional rulers, other stakeholders and youth are supporting me to contest the chairmanship position."
He commended the leadership manner of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, and his commitment to transform Ebonyi, saying that he had made courageous impacts in youth development, education, health, infrastructure, workers' welfare and general well-being of the residents of the state in less than a year in office.
He assured of emulating the state governor by stepping down his administration policies and programmes anchored on the People's Charter of Needs to the grassroots level if he emerged victorious as the Ezza North council chairman in the upcoming election.
The Aspirant also hailed the leadership prowess of the State APC Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, whom he described as a unifier and trailblazer in the Ebonyi political system.
"You can see my supporters are massive, we are to partner with His Excellency, on His People's Charter of Needs to give Ebonyi people dividends of democracy, especially in the grassroots.
"We are here to support the APC chairman, who has done so much to bridge the gap between the opposition and the ruling party in Ebonyi State. As far as I'm concerned there's no opposition in Ezza North.
"This became possible because of the way the governor has been carrying people around. That's why I have to answer the clarion call to represent my people in Ezza North.
"The assurance for my victory in the election is 90 per cent because of my antecedents. This is not the first time for me to be in a leadership position. I assure them that I know the heart of the governor is very pure in education, health, empowerment and other sectors for impactful interventions," he said.
Recall that Mgbada hailed from Umuogharu in Ezza North; but as a politician and a human rights activist, he has occupied different positions used to touch lives in mega styles.
