Ahead of the July 20 local government elections in Ebonyi, the State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engineer Stanley Lebechi Mbam has thrown his weight behind the incumbent Chairman of Abakaliki Council Area, Chief Stephen Ebere Nwogba for his second term bid.
The commissioner who made this known to journalists on Wednesday said, the stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Abakaliki North State Constituency have adopted Nwogba for the second term.
According to him, Nwogba's adoption by the Abakaliki North people was as a result of his outstanding performance in rural development especially in grading and opening up rural roads in the hinterlands of the council area.
While reading the communique raised by the Abakaliki North stakeholders during their meeting under his chairmanship, Commissioner Mbam described Nwogba as a true leader for having made the council people proud with exemplary leadership in the first stretch.
He said, the decision by the Abakaliki North stakeholders today to adopt Nwogba as their sole candidate for the upcoming council election echoed the adage, that one good turn deserves another.
He recalled that through the impactful leadership of Nwogba as the council chairman, peace has returned to every nook and cranny of the Abakaliki council area.
The Works Commissioner said: "Rising from the stakeholders meeting of Abakaliki North State constituency, after extensive deliberations on the political situation in the area, we hereby issue that we have adopted Honourable Ebere Nwaogha as our sole candidate for the upcoming Local government election considering his steering performance in his first tenure of office.
“That we, the entire stakeholders and leaders of thought of Abakaliki North State constituency fully and unanimously align with the position of the zoning committee.
"Ebere Nwogba deserves a second tenure as the Abakaliki Council Chairman as a part of our reward for his good works, he has done well in our various communities and his second term chance will encourage him to consolidate his ongoing projects more loft ones coming to our area."
It could be recalled that the stakeholders who signed the communique were the member representing Abakaliki North State Constituency, Hon. Chidi Nwoke, State Commissioner for Works, Engr Stanley Lebechi Mbam, Hon. Chukwuma Nwiboko - Senior Special Assistant to the State Governor on Project Monitoring, Comrade Ben Nwovu - President Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum, Chief Kenneth Nwovu - President Onwa Oferekpe Foundation, HRH Eze Nwoba Nwangbu - Izhi Unuphu traditional ruler, Charles Akpuenika - former Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development and Oliver Nwachukwu - former state lawmaker and Hon. Chinedu Emenike - Senior Special Assistant to Governor on Youth Mobilisation.
Also, recall that the motion for Nwogba's adoption for the second term was moved by Hon Victor Nwoke and seconded by Chinedu Emenike.
