The Executive Chairman of Abakaliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Chief Stephen Ebere Nwogba has assured his council people of more democracy dividends if he emerged victorious at the polls for his second term in office come July 20.
Nwogba gave the assurance during the weekend at Nkwegu Primary School Abakaliki, where the official flag-off of the All Progressives Congress, APC rally for the council chairmanship election took place.
He recalled that some communities in Abakaliki Council Area have no legacy projects initiated by his administration in his first tenure and assured them of fulfilling the pledge in his second term if elected.
He noted that his administration demonstrated capacity by ensuring most of the council people were assisted financially in their various areas of need and provided social amenities in the area in his first term in office.
"We have done much to ensure that we give a helping hand to most of our people who were in dare need of assistance, through the payment of school fees of indigent students, offsetting of hospital bills of the less privileged patients, provision of financial assistance and agro materials to poor farmers and cooperatives, provision of teaching and writing materials for schools, pupils and students, empowerment of widows and training of youths in various skills acquisition, and above all, promotion of peace in every part of the council area and other neighboring communities that share boundaries with Abakaliki LGA.
"We have also done everything possible within the reach of our financial muscle to give a facelift to most of our rural roads that were in deplorable condition.
"Notwithstanding, I am not ignorant of the fact that some communities are yet to be given more attention in terms of executing legacy projects, which I promise to do in our second tenure because our first tenure was not without some challenges," Nwogba said.
Earlier, the Abakaliki Council boss noted that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola-led Federal government has become a reality in Ebonyi because Governor Francis Nwifuru has been addressing the yearnings and aspirations of citizens of the state.
He commended Governor Nwifuru for having continued to build a healthy environment and introducing all-inclusive governance in the state.
This step, according to Nwogba, has made Ebonyi gradually become a one-party state, as the people continue to show solidarity with the APC-led government in the state, especially at the grassroots level.
"On our part as a local government, we will continue to play active roles to ensure that our people at the grassroots level are allowed to feel the impacts of the government at all times," he added.
Nwogba also extolled the State Chairman of the APC, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, and other party stalwarts who considered him worthy to fly the flag of the party as the Chairmanship candidate in the upcoming local government elections in the state.
