The Ebonyi State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps ( NYSC), Mrs Oladeinde Foluke has charged the Corps members in the state to work towards national integration and development during their service year.
Oladeinde gave the charge on Tuesday, during the closing ceremony of the orientation course for the 2024 Batch 'B' Stream One Corps members at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, old MacGregor College, Afikpo.
The NYSC Coordinator urged the new Corps members to receive their posting letters to their places of primary assignment in good faith, stressing that they were dispatched to various parts of the state in cognizance of their academic disciplines and critical areas much valued by the scheme.
"This posting was done taking cognizance of your courses of study and the government policy of posting Corps members to four critical areas of the economy such as; Education, Rural Infrastructure, Agriculture, and Health.
"I therefore urge you to accept your postings in good fate and go out there and contribute your quota to the development of your host community and Ebonyi State at large.
"Dear compatriots in National Service, it is imperative to remind you at this juncture to remain good ambassadors of your respective families, the NYSC scheme, and the country bearing in mind that a lot has been invested in you.
"Shun any act capable of breaching the peace and unity of the Nation. Do ensure you promote development peace, unity, and integration to enhance National development," Oladeinde advised.
She recalled that the Corps members arrived at Ebonyi State in response to the clarion call and were registered for the National Service; underwent a series of activities such as para-military drills, citizenship, and leadership training, Skill Acquisition entrepreneurship Development training, drug-free lectures, security tips, and Cultural and Language studies, amongst others.
She expressed optimism that the Corps members having completed the orientation exercise would excel during the service year and beyond.
"This remarkable bonding existing among the Corps members is a clear indication that the scheme is achieving its objectives of developing common ties among the youths; and promoting National unity and Integration," she hinted.
The NYSC Coordinator commended Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, whom she said, his administration has given numerous supports to the scheme by contributing to the overall success of the camping exercise, especially the renovation of the Multi-Purpose hall in the camp.
She also appreciated the NYSC Board Chairman and the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development in the state, Prince Richard Idike, alongside the collaborating agencies and organizations especially the security operatives for their contributions; which she said, led to the success of the orientation course within three weeks in the camp.
