The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen Y. D Ahmed gave the charge today when he visited the corps members at their orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area of the state.
Ahmed enjoined the corps members to be disciplined in all they do and respect the culture, tradition, customs, norms and values of the communities they were posted for their primary assignments.
"I urge you to add value in your host communities by initiating and executing viable Community Development Service projects that would positively impact on the lives of the people.
"You should also take the issues relating to your personal security, skill acquisition among others seriously," .
He concluded by advising the corps members to avoid traveling without permission or travelling at night if they must travel.
"You must conform with the NYSC dress code and maintaining clean environment at all times,"
The State Coordinator of the NYSC in Rivers State, Mr. George Mfongang thanked the DG for the visit and noted that it had motivated the corps members.
He noted that a total of 1, 800 corps members were registered for the exercise and they were doing well in camp.
"I commend the corps members for their outstanding and excellent performances since their arrival to the camp, especially actively participating in all programmes and activities,"
Gen Ahmed was accompanied on the visit by the NYSC Director, Information & Public Relations, Chief Eddy Megwa and the Deputy Director, Special Duties, Mr. Nura Umar.
