A non-governmental organization, NGO known as Team Rise has expressed its preparedness to partner with Ebonyi State government in building and engaging young people with entrepreneurial skills, and other innovative and creative ventures.
The team leader of the organization, Dave Ogbuehi, made this known Tuesday when he and his members paid a courtesy call to the Commander of Neighborhood Watch of Ebonyi State Command, Prince Victor Chibuoyi Nwenyi Tuesday in his office, old Government House, Abakaliki.
Ogbuehi said the NGO has operated for over 9 years, focusing on the empowerment of young people but would flag off its sensitization and advocacy program on the theme tagged, "Ebonyi of our dream, a crime-free society," come 18th August 2024.
Lending his voice, a member of the Team Rise, Nelson Mgbada said the organization has been committed to embarking on programs that would promote a crime-free society.
He noted that the scheduled program in Ebonyi would help to build more youths to become very youthful and useful in the state and beyond.
Responding, the State Commander of the Neighborhood Watch, Prince Victor Chibuoyi Nwenyi commended the members of the group for their initiative to drive youth empowerment and a crime-free society agenda to a higher pedestal in the society.
Nwenyi expressed joy that the organization picked interest in his shared value and passion in life, noting that he was able to empower over 20 people with entrepreneurial skills this year.
The Commander said even though he has a special passion for empowering young people academically since he still lacks the financial muscle to facilitate the vision, he began by assisting the youths to acquire entrepreneurial skills.
He however urged youths especially the young graduates not to wait for white-collar jobs but to strive to make themselves self-relevant employers of labor through the acquisition of entrepreneurial skills and embarking on other meaningful ventures in society.
"This is a welcomed development and I must let you know Ebonyi State Governor, His Excellency, Builder Francis Nwifuru means well for Ebonyians.
"In terms of empowerment of youths, he is a leading example among other governors in the country. He's determined to transform our state, no sector is left untouched in terms of development; an indication of impactful leadership and a true demonstration of a democratically elected leader, whose administration is people's oriented.
"Indeed, I'm always happy when I come across people who are interested in acquiring entrepreneurial skills. I want to let you know that this kind of program has a lot to do with the development of our dear State.
"This year, I have been able to enroll 20 people to acquire different skills. I financed everything required for them to acquire the skills. With these skills, they can easily become self-reliant, wealth creators, and employers of labor. When I go around, I used to ask people if they are interested in learning skills and I will assist them," Nwenyi stated.
The Neighborhood Watch Commander also assured the members of the organization that he would partner with them in empowering youths entrepreneurially and promoting a crime-free society in the state.
Thus, a member of Team Rise, Oluchi Nwite has on behalf of her members appreciated the Commander for his warm reception and assured partnership with the organization.
