The National Catholic Women Organization (NCWO) of Saint Mary's Parish Afikpo yesterday bestowed the National Media Award on the Correspondent of the Sun Newspapers in Ebonyi State, Comrade Uchenna Inya.
Inya had won both state and national merit awards for having shown capacity in rendering media services while working with the New Telegraph Newspapers.
In a letter signed by the President of the organization, Mrs Benedetta Onwa, the Secretary - Mrs Felicia Arua Otuu and the Parish Priest - Rev Fr Acha Simon, the Catholic women said Inya was chosen to receive a merit award of The First Ehugbo Son to Win National Media Award from St. Mary’s (Pro-Cathedral) Parish Afikpo by the National Catholic Women Organization (NCWO) following his dedication, hard work and unwavering commitment towards society have not gone unnoticed.
The Catholic group decorated Inya as Nwa Eji Aga Mba one of Ehugbo because of his selfless actions and tireless effort, which according to them, have greatly positively impacted the society at large.
"Your willingness to go above and beyond to help others set an incredible example for us all and we are truly inspired by your passion and dedication," the leader of the organization said.
Inya, who is the Chairman of the Ebonyi State Nigeria Union Journalists, NUJ Correspondents' Chapel after receiving the award, thanked the women, the entire Catholic community and people of goodwill for the recognition and solidarity support to him during the event.
He promised to continue to contribute his best towards societal growth and development, noting that the award would spur him more to render quality services to humanity.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union Journalists, NUJ Ebonyi State Council, Comrade Samson Nwafor, among other stakeholders and members of the council described Comrade Inya's award by the Catholic women as a well-deserved one, wishing him a greater height while rendering service to humanity.
