Over 239 Undergraduates of of Ngbo East Development Center were filled with joy, chanting praises of gratitude to the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru following the payment of bursary to the students in higher institutions by the Coordinator of of the Development Center, Alike Isaac Uchenna.
This was to cushion the effects of the economic hardship of students.
The event was flag off by the Development Center Coordinator, Alike Isaac Uchenna at the DC Headquarters, Agu-ugwu, Amoffia Ngbo in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria.
The coordinator while addressing the students at the official ceremony of the bursary payment stated that the gesture is in line with the administrative mantra of the Governor of Ebonyi State which is 'people's Charter of needs'.
In his remarks, Alike said " It is a special day for the people of Ngbo East Development Center, and a very remarkable day to the Students because this is the first of its kind since the creation of this Development Center"
"We are going to pay bursary to so many students who must have gone through the screening exercises as planned by the bursary payment committee while those who were not captured will be paid during the next payment exercise". He added.
He said "I am not doing this for people to praise me rather to emulate the human capital development of my boss, the Executive Governor of the State whose administrative mantra of People's Charter of Needs has really come down to the grassroots".
The coordinator said that he has started the construction of the Secretariat building in addition to the empowerment schemes he provides to the youths of the Development Center on monthly basis . He also informed his people of his monthly visit to the hospital to offset the medical bills of the indigent ones in the hospital. He further advised them to always feel free to ask for assistance when necessary.
In appreciation, one of the students Comrade Elem Elom Chinedu commended the Coordinator for his administrative ingenuity especially his contributions to the welfare of the youths and students.
He added that the bursary payment will go a long way in addressing their financial challenges in schools.
Another community leader Mrs Chinelo Antonia Okeh called on the students to always remain grateful to th Coordinator and support his government.
She added that Governor Nwifuru led administration will continue to invest in both infrastructural and human capital development in the State.
