The outstanding National Leadership Award of the Hero of Education took place at the National Commission for Colleges of Education NCCE Abuja on 15th August 2024.

Also, in recognition of his magnanimous support to board of church wardens and Catholic Church in general, prof Okey Reuben Okechukwu on July 28, 2024 was recognised as “pride of Catholic men” by Catholic archdiocese of Abuja Nigeria.
Correspondent reports that the Provost was bestowed with numerous awards recently.
At the NANCES award, with Sen Kur Isaac Usherhimber as the host, the students commended prof Okey for the successful take-off of Academic activities as the pioneer Provost of FCET Isu Ebonyi state.
According to them the honour was one of the outstanding decisions of the students Association and it was first of its kind to any of the Provosts from the newly established Colleges of Education in Nigeria.
“You deserve to be applauded because it requires an encyclopaedic mind to excellently flag off the Academic activities of a Teacher Training Institution with such success within a short time. Despite all these challenges and against all odds you have remained firm and still stand taller in the successful story of the newly established Colleges of Education in Nigeria."
They urged him to sustain the tempo.
In his remarks shortly after receiving the award. Prof Okey said he was highly elated, and it will ginger him to do better in the educational sector where he found himself.
