A Catholic Priest of Abakaliki Diocese, Rev. Fr. Fidelis Eze, on Sunday, advised President Bola Tinubu not to allow Nigeria as a nation to die during his administration, contending that "his Renewed Hope Agenda should be positively impactful on the citizens."
Eze made the call during the Holy Mass Service at Government House Chapel, Ochudo Centenary City Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, and lamented that many Nigerians have died following the rising cost of the essential commodities after the fuel subsidy removal by the Tinubu-led administration.
The Priest begged state governors and other key stakeholders in the country to advise President Tinubu to rise to the occasion by ensuring the practical fulfilment of his Renewed Hope Agenda for Nigerians.
According to him, many people are dying of hunger; apart from insecurity challenges, the cost of living is very high, and nobody can easily buy essential commodities in the market after the removal of fuel subsidy by the President.
He said the recent increment of fuel pump prices in the country had been perceived by Nigerians as not conforming to President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which he promised to them, during the 2023 electioneering campaign period.
"The recent increment of the fuel pump price is worsening the whole situation in the country.
"We are yet to see the healing; where is the Renewed Hope Agenda? People are dying and let Mr President renew the hope of Nigerians now," the Priest hinted.
Eze, the Assistant Chaplain of the Ebonyi State Government House Chapel, while spreading the sermon, advised the congregations to be generous to people around them, not minding their backgrounds, social status, physical structures, and level of wealth accumulation presently in the society.
Recall that during the prayer intersessions at the chapel, the Special Assistant to the State Governor on Inter-Party Affairs, Comrade Sunday Nwambam, observed that the country had been confronted by economic comatose, insecurity and other socio-political problems, calling for God's urgent intervention.
Nwambam prayed that God strengthen the Nigerian leaders and use them as His Vessels to address the plights of the citizens, especially the poor masses in the country.
