A contestant of the Ezeship stool in Agalegu Ishieke autonomous community in Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Prince Ajibo Paul Ajibo, has called on Governor Francis Nwifuru to cancel the outcome of the Ezeship election in the community.
Speaking to newsmen in his country home, Agalegu Ishieke, Prince Ajibo, the Agalegu community Reagent alleged that the person purported to have won the election was imposed on the people against their wish by a high profiled politician from Ebonyi council area.
He pointed out that the people were meant to cast their votes or queue behind their choice candidates, but were not allowed to do so, as he alleged that the politicians stormed the venue with security agents to intimidate people to succumb to his plan.
He called on the people of the community to calm down and appealed to the State governor to intervene in the matter by appointing neutral bodies to conduct a free and fair election.
He appreciated the State Commissioner for Border Peace and Conflict Resolution, Dr Donatus Ilang, for advising the community people that a genuine election would be conducted to avert controversy but expressed disappointment that his advice was not heeded.
According to him, some stakeholders from other communities forced their will on the people noting that the tradition was that only people from the eight villages in Agalegu could conduct such an election.
Prince Ajibo Paul Ajibo thanked the state governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, for approving the installation of traditional rulers in various communities and creating more communities to have their fair share of good governance and democracy dividends.
He made it clear that he was qualified for the Ezeship of the community after a thorough screening of the contestants in the race but wondered how the process was manipulated instead of allowing the Ezeship candidates to show their strength and popularity during the election.
Prince Ajibo assured to prioritize the welfare, peace, and Unity of the community if allowed to steer the wheel of leadership of the community. He believes that as much as Governor Francis Nwifuru is on the throne, justice must prevail, and the rightful winner of the election will stand tall beside victory.
Prince Ajibo Paul Ajibo used the opportunity to appreciate the people of the community for their massive support before and during the ezeship election.
