The New State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Enugu State, Dr Elijah Willie has assured the protection of lives and critical national infrastructure in the state.
Willie gave the assurance on Friday at the command headquarters in Enugu while taking over from the outgoing Head of command, now Assistant Commandant General (ACG) Cyprian Ehi Otoibhi.
The agency reports that the command witnessed a significant transition of leadership as Commandant Willie PhD, officially assumed as the State Commandant, succeeding the outgoing Head of Command, Otoibhi.
The new commandant added that his vision for the command would further enhance its operations and activities in the state.
"My leadership will bring a wealth of experience to enhance operations, protect lives and critical national infrastructure in the state," Willie said.

In handing over to Willie, Otoibhi disclosed the structure and functions of the state command and expressed confidence in his smooth transition of leadership.
The Assistant Commandant General, while introducing the principal staff of the command to Commandant Willie, expressed his appreciation for their dedication and service.
He said that the familiarisation aimed to strengthen collaboration and continuity as the new Commandant assumed his leadership role.
He also took the new Commandant on an extensive tour of the Command's offices and facilities and briefed on the status of various operational assets under the Command’s custody to ensure a seamless transition of authority.
The tour included visits to critical departments such as the Public Relations Office (PRO), Administration, Intelligence, Health Services, Operations, and Disaster Management, arrested trucks and other vehicles under the command’s custody.
The agency reports that the handover of authority was marked by the signing of the official documents and the ceremonial presentation of the NSCDC flag by the outgoing head to Commandant Willie, symbolizing the transfer of command and responsibility.
The agency also gathered that the ceremony took place on a formal occasion held at the command headquarters on Nov 1.
