The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Prof Benard Ifeanyi Odoh has announced a N70 Billion investment plan for the institution within his five first years in office.
The Vice Chancellor who resumed office on Tuesday November 5th 2024, also announced that he is going to convert the University kitchen to the official residence of the Vice Chancellor pending the completion of the permanent Vice Chancellor’s residence in the institution.
Odoh noted that he cannot be a Vice Chancellor of a University and be leaving off campus, be ignorant of what is happenings on campus.
According to him, the sum of N10 billion would be raised through Public – Private Partnership though co–funding critical infrastructure and Corporate Social Responsibility.
The Vice Chancellor, said that he will bring disruptive changes that leap-jump the university to greater.
Odoh assured of strengthening academics activities in the university as, according to him, there is poor activities now in the university.
The Vice Chancellor also stated that he will present N100 millions bank for grants, noting that the university can longer be depending on international and national grants.
He stated that the university will begin reward hard work and punish disloyalty.
“We shall construct a 150 room hotel with Events and meeting rooms to provide comfort and security to visitors to the University and it’s environs through accommodations and conference services “
“We are embarking on the implementation of Coordinated Renewable Energy Solutions /Institution of N100 million qusi- endowment fund to support research in Renewable Energy “
“This will enhance research and development parenting of renewable energy solutions reduce the University carbon footprint erns carbon credit , taps into intellectual property right and promotes sustainability, “he stated.
