The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Umar Damagum yesterday lauded Governor Francis Nwifuru for embarking all inclusive leadership in Ebonyi State.
Damagum, while speaking during the burial ceremony of the former PDP Chairman in Ebonyi, late Chief Joseph Onwe, at Ntezi in Ishielu local government area of the state, described Governor Nwifuru as a leader with a human face.
Damagum, represented by the PDP National Vice Chairman in the South East zone, Ali Odefa, further commended the governor for bringing peace back to Ebonyi, noting that his administration has been accommodating opposition parties despite their diverse leadership interests since assumed office.
He observed that the former state PDP Chairman died a peaceful death while enumerating his contribution to the development of the party and state during his lifetime.
"To me, it's human being first before partisan politics. We should always remember Ebonyi as our state first before other things. I thanked the governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for attending this burial. This is one of your usual ways of magnanimity to remember this family.
"It's Joseph Onwe's body lying this way but no one knows who is the next. He has met his Maker. But Your Excellency, I must commend you publicly for the peace you have brought back to the Ebonyi State.
"You can see the APC members sitting with the PDP people and that's a true governance we need as a state and one people," Odefa said.
Onu, however, urged Governor Nwifuru to forget about who voted and did not vote for him during the 2023 polls and continue with all-inclusive governance in Ebonyi, pending when he opens another chapter for his second term election campaign.
He vowed not to talk down on the governor and described him as a true friend who has performed creditably well in leadership since he assumed office.
Recall that Governor Francis Nwifuru, his predecessor, now the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, and other prominent personalities from the state and beyond attended the burial and expressed their readiness to support late Onwe's family to advance politically and socio-economic-wise.
