Hon Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, Enugu State Chairman of ALGON and Nkanu East LGA chairman has felicitated with Nkanu East people and the entire Enugu citizens as they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
In a statement made available to newsmen, in Enugu, Hon Edeh, also urged Christians to use the festive occasion to pray for unity, peace and prosperity of Nkanu East, Enugu and Nigeria in general.
Hon Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, who is also the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), called on Christians to rededicate themselves to the service of humanity in line with the true teachings of Jesus Christ which emphasises tolerance, patience, brotherly kindness, care for the needy and love for one another, among other virtues.
"The yuletide season presents us an opportunity once more to love, share and forgive. I urge Christians to utilise the period to pray for unity, peace and prosperity in Nkanu East, Enugu and Nigeria at large.
"We must also rededicate ourselves to the true virtues of faith in God, love for one another, honesty and peaceful co-existence. It is time to make these virtues more evident and practical in our daily lives,” he said.
"As God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son, it is important to recognize that the reason for the season is the sacrifice of our Heavenly Father and similarly replicate this example in our relationship with others.
"Christmas is thus a period to show love and practice sacrificial giving. Christianity is after all an expression of practical love for fellow man", he stated.
He, therefore, urged the good people of Nkanu East LGA to practice the teachings of Jesus and as much as it is within their power to live in peace with one another .
He further stated that his administration will continue to be guided by these noble principles in fostering love, reconciliation, unity and togetherness in Nkanu East as we strive to bring shared prosperity to Nkanu East and create better society for our generation and generations unborn.
