The Senate Deputy Chief Whip and Lawmaker representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi has urged Christians across the globe to build bridges of peace and unity among their neighbors regardless of regions and ethnicities as they celebrate the 2024 Christmas.
Nwebonyi, in his Christmas message to his constituents and the entire Ebonyi people, also felicitated with the state Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, and other stakeholders and declared that the event marking the commemoration of the birthday of Jesus Christ always provides them the opportunity to renew their faith as Christia.ns.
He urged his constituents and other people across the nation observing the Christmas and New Year festivities to spend wisely in considering the economic tasks awaiting them after the yuletide.
"The birth of our Lord Jesus Christ provides us with the opportunity to renew our faith and meditate on Christ’s salvation of mankind through His earthly Ministry and sorrowful passions.
"It’s a period to spread joy, charity, reconciliation, and building bridges of unity among your neighbors. You must share what you have with the underprivileged ones among you.
"The Christmas celebration isn’t a time for ostentatious lifestyles, or to deplete all your savings celebrating the yuletide. Remember that January comes with a lot of expenses – school fees, house rent, and the rest, so spare some Christmas extravaganzas to take care of other needs in the coming year," he said.
The Senator stated that he had done a lot to cushion the effects of the excruciating economic realities occasioned by the bold economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu, which is bound to yield a bountiful harvest soon in Nigeria.
The lawmaker disclosed that he attracted over 361kms Ebonyi-Benue-Abuja link road, 20kms internal roads across the zone, drilled boreholes, distributed cars and motorcycles, built houses for the needy, shared food palliatives, massive empowerments, secured federal jobs to graduates and sponsored countless people-oriented bills.
He, therefore, congratulated his constituents and all the Christian faithful across the world on celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, wishing them Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year in advance.
