Ebonyi State government has declared a prohibition of burning tyres on tarred roads in any part of the state.
The Coordinator of the Echiaba Development Centre in Ebonyi local government area of Ebonyi State, Prince Friday Oketa disclosed this in a press statement on Tuesday.
Oketa said the state governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, had early directed that nobody should burn tyres on the tarred roads while observing crossover night on 31st December 2024.
He warned that in line with the directive by Governor Nwifuru, nobody should burn tyres on tarred roads in any part of Echiaba Development Centre during the cross overnight.
The Coordinator urged the traditional rulers, village heads, youth leaders, town union presidents, management committee members and stakeholders of the Echi-Aba Development Centre to ensure total compliance with the directive of the governor in their various places.
He also warned that anyone caught disobeying the directive would be held responsible for embarking on an unlawful act to face the wrath of the law.
He advised the general public to be aware of the prohibition and inform their various wards to avoid falling victim to burning tyres on tarred roads for any reason on this last day of the year 2024.
