Ebonyi State government has assured partnership with the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN in the sports activities in the state.
The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Prince Richard Idike, made the pledge during a courtesy visit by the newly elected executives of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ebonyi State Chapter, to his office at Ochudo Centenary City, Abakaliki.
According to the Commissioner, the State Ministry of Youth Development and Sports will partner the newly elected executuves of Sport Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN) in Ebonyi.
He disclosed that Abakaliki Football Club, fondly known as the Rice Boys, is set to play with Godswill Akpabio Football Club on Saturday, 21st December 2024.
Speaking about the match, Prince Idike expressed confidence in Abakaliki FC’s readiness to deliver a stellar performance.
He described the home game as an opportunity for the team to showcase its strength and make Ebonyi State proud.
The Commissioner equally congratulated the SWAN executives led by Comrade Ndubuisi Nwogha for their peaceful election and their dedication to promoting sports development in the state.
Earlier, Comrade Ndubuisi Nwogha and the Secretary, Cosmas Egba, appreciated the state government for its support and pledged their commitment to driving sports activities forward.
They urged the football fans to turn out in large numbers to cheer Abakaliki FC to victory.
