The President General of the Ebonyi South in Diaspora Group, Barr. Oko Ewa Enyim has urged leaders across all tiers of government to do all they can to alleviate hunger in the country in 2025.
Enyim, the Former Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Afikpo North LGA of Ebonyi made the call in an interview, noting that Ebonyi people and Nigerians expect 2025 to be better than 2024 and preceding years.
The Former Legal Adviser of the Afikpo North LGA said that efforts should be intensified to ensure that various economic policies of governments at all levels materialise for the citizens in 2025.
"The Ebonyi government, for instance, has prioritised policies and programmes that would ensure the economic development of the state, which we hope to manifest fruitfully in the new year.
"Agriculture should be a focal point with governments providing farm inputs,, machinery and credit facilities, among others, , while the citizens embrace agriculture despite the ventures they are engaged in
"Industrialisation should also be a watchword of various governments, to open the economy and create the desired atmosphere of economic growth,".
The astute politician hailed the Ebonyi State government for the numerous successes it recorded in 2024 and called for its sustenance in 2025.
"The people played active roles in the successes recorded by the state government in 2024 and with their active support, more can be achieved and consolidated upon.
"We should see the new year as a time of reflection and renewal, to chart a new course and improve ourselves and the lots of the society.
"2024 was difficult and we believe strongly that all we invested. a worked towards would manifest in 2025 to ensure that the people's charter of needs mantra of the present Ebonyi government is achieved,"
Enyim urged Local Government Area Chairmen in the Ebonyi South Senatorial District to ensure that they bring democratic dividends down to the grassroots to ensure the people feel the democratic breeze.
"It is not pleasing to hear that LGA workers were not paid their salaries before the yuletide as efforts should be made to pay them and avoid such hiccups in future.
"The people at the grassroots should be carried along in the scheme of things and not only remembered when elections approach.
"Agriculture, which is the mainstay of economies and ppractisedaggressively at the grassroots, should be encouraged through the provision of several incentives to rural farmers,".
He paid glowing tributes to the Chairman of his home LGA, Engr. Timothy Nwachi for his astuteness in ensuring that the council is lifted to greater heights.
"Your infrastructural and human empowerment strides are second to none and the people who are feeling the impact are testifying in bounds.
"I urge the people to remember leaders in all tiers of government in prayers and offer them quantum support to ensure that all dreams are realised,."
