In order to appreciate God for His mercies and kindness throughout the year 2024, the Commissioner for Information and Commutation Technologies (ICT) in Ebonyi, Hon. Uzor Tochukwu Okorie has offered scholarships to indigent students in tertiary institutions.
The Commissioner also enrolled 50 persons drawn from the 4 wards of Okposi in Ohaozara LGA into the Ebonyi state Health Insurance Scheme( EBSHIA) in order to have free access to medical care.
The event which took place at his community, Okposi Okwu in Ohaozara LGA of the state was graced by dignitaries from all walks of life including the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement(South East), Barr. Chioma Nweze; the Chairman of Ohaozara LGA, Chinoso Aja Consider; the Coordinator of Anuagata Development Centre, Hon.John Osi and his Okposi counterpart, Hon.Ozioma Okoronkwo, and other prominent sons and daughters of Okposi who came to appreciate God for a success recorded in the year 2024.
While addressing the beneficiaries, the ICT Commissioner stated that he sees Christmas as a season to celebrate the birth of Christ, a time to show love and share gifts with one another, especially the less privileged ones.
Uzor noted that he has enjoyed unimaginable support from the 4 wards of Okposi and given enormous support to his principal, Governor.Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, and also to the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi; the Divine Mandate team, and the host of other APC leaders in the state.
He further explained that 50 persons from the 4 wards of Okposi, including elderly men, pregnant women and children were enrolled into the Ebonyi state Health Insurance Scheme to enable them have free medical treatment for one year in any health centre closer to them while 10 indigent students in tertiary institutions were offered scholarships.
The purpose of the event, in his words , was to thank God for His mercies and kindness and also to
support the programmes and policies of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru on Health and Education so that the devidence of Democracy will be felt by rural dwellers.He appreciated Governor Nwifuru for People's oriented administration and his efforts to develop all part of the state.
In their goodwill messages,the Chairman of Ohaozara LGA,Hon Consider Chinonso Aja; the SSA to the President on Community Engagement(South East),Barr Chioma Nweze, among other digitaries all applauded the Initiative and effort of the Commissioner to alleviate the plight of the less privileged ones in the society and also commended Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for
his commitment and dedication to reposition the state.
Earlier in the Thanksgiving service,Arch Bishop Godswill Onyeuwama Omoke of the Presbyterian church of Nigeria, urged Christians not to be far from God as he is the author and finisher of their faith as no believer succeeds without God's protection and guidance.
He also used the opportunity to applaud the ICT Commissioner, saying that he has laid a solid and sustainable foundation for the development of the state with ICT facilities and appreciate Governor Nwifuru for his Leadership ingenuity to transform the state.
