The Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, says no amount of gossip and blackmail will bring resentment between him and his predecessor.
Governor Nwifuru, who was speaking when former Executive Council Members who served under the state's immediate past administration led by the former Governor, Engr David Umahi paid him Christmas and New Year homage in his country home, Oferekpe Agbaja, said he is working assiduously to consolidate on the democratic gains put in place by his predecessor.
He applauded the former governor for his statesmanship in helping to achieve the vision of the state.
" I sincerely want to thank the former Governor of our dear, Engr David Umahi. He has been supporting us and helping us achieve our programs, we will continue to deliver from where he stopped", Governor Nwifuru assured.
In his speech, the former Governor and Minister of Works, Sen David Nweze Umahi endorsed the re-election bid of Governor Nwifuru, describing him as a man with integrity.
"We came today to pay homage to our Governor, whom I found no fault".
"For me, we started this journey before I became a governor several years ago.
"We passed through difficult times. Throughout our stay in the office, I never gave you one kobo.
"I found you on the altar of hard work, dedication, diligence and integrity.
"What has happened in Ebonyi State after you took over is very normal. If someone is happy with you but angry I made you Governor is sycophantic.
"I have declared what God said I should declare that your tenure is f8 years. Let me say it here in the land of Izzi".
"Because of your goodwill and achievements, your re-election will be funded by friends and associates, you will not put one kobo
"You have done very well. There is no legacy we achieved in Ebonyi State that you were not part of . I declare your 8 years openly that no stoppage".
"I want Ebonyi State to be praying for Mr President.
The number of projects we have here is not the same as in other states. We must trust our leaders.
"We remain very grateful because no other leader has done what the president has done for us". The Minister said.
