The Action Alliance, AA has expressed fear that the government of President Bola Tinubu would worsen Nigeria's sociopolitical and economic system.
AA, through its Ebonyi State Chairman, Chief Peter Ozuma, stated this at the weekend while having a chat with journalists in Abakaliki.
Ozuma said President Tinubu, from the inception of his administration, introduced harsh policies which had brought untold hardship to the Nigerian citizens, leaving them hopeless as the cost of living and essential commodities continued to skyrocket.
"Nobody is smiling under President Tinubu-led administration; his abrupt approach to addressing the sociopolitical and economic challenges facing Nigerians has turned into the worst experience since the Independence of the country.
"The populace lives in a hopeless condition; it's obvious that Nigerians have lost confidence in Mr President's acclaimed Renewed Hope Initiative Agenda. His agenda is completely ironic in considering the rising cost of living and essential commodities in the country.
"Imagine the kind of harvest of death recorded during the yuletide in Oyo, Lagos and Anambra stampedes, which all of them were hunger-orchestrated disasters, resulting in worrisome death of the innocent children, mothers and even fathers, the breadwinners of many families. This is uncalled for, and it's a simple interpretation that Tinubu's government has become soured."
The AA Chairman, however, commended Governor Francis Nwifuru, whom he said has been wearing a human face to run his administration in Ebonyi State, "even though he was elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the party considered an anti-democratic party in Nigeria."
He urged Governor Nwifuru to continue to run all-inclusive governance and strive to signpost his administration's legacy projects in both human capital and infrastructure development, before the 2027 electioneering campaign period.
Speaking on the preparedness of AA, to wrestle power with other political parties come 2027, Ozuma said: "Reading meaning from the outcome of the local government elections in Rivers State, where AA won one local government area out of the 23 local government areas in Rivers State during the local government elections recently in the state, it means our party, AA has big hope.
"I know the All People's Party, APP won the 22 chairmanship positions instead of the ruling People's Democratic Party PDP in the state. So, my party, the Action Alliance, can lead Ebonyi State and Nigeria in 2027."
He noted that the AA has embarked on a strategic movement to form a formidable front ahead of the 2027 elections, to ensure an excellent outing during the exercise and advised the party members to be courageous in defending their aspirations in their various wards in the state.
