Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers state has enjoined corps members to be steadfast in making positive impact in the lives of Nigerians.
Fubara gave the charge on Tuesday at the National Youth Service Corps NYSC) permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai Local Government Area (LGA) during the closing ceremony of 2024 Batch C Stream II orientation course for corps members deployed to the State.
The governor represented by the Permanent Secretary Cabinet Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Hamilton Amadi, urged the corps members to see Rivers State as a fertile ground and ideal environment to live and uphold the rich NYSC values.
"I assure you that my administration will be conscious and consistent in ensuring that your welfare and security are not compromised,".
The State Coordinator NYSC in Rivers State, Mr. Moses Oleghe informed the governor that the corps members have been well-trained, adequately equipped and nurtured to give back their best to the society.
"This is through your honest and selfless service to the nation.
"I charge you to be disciplined and focused in the task of nation building.
"You should also help your host communities to address felt needs by embarking on Community Development Service projects' execution."
He thanked Governor Fubara and the good people of Rivers State for their uncommon love, goodwill and support" to corps members and the NYSC Scheme.
A total of 2,442 corps members made up of 983 males and 1,459 females successfully completed the 3 - week orientation exercise in Rivers state.
