The Ebonyi State Police Command said it arrested Ohanaeze Youth Council President, Comrade Igboayaka Igboayaka, following the petition which alleged he disseminated false information capable of truncating peace in the state.
The command refuted the early report on the alleged abduction of the Ohanaeze Youth Council President, Comrade Igboayaka Igboayaka, by the suspected hoodlums a few days ago.
The alleged abduction report of the Ohanaeze Youth Council President was carried out by different media organizations.
In a press release on Monday, the Police Spokesman in Ebonyi State, SP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the arrest, not the abduction of Igboayaka, based on the allegedly false information he disseminated.
The release read in parts: "The Ebonyi State Command is aware of the information circulating in the media alleging the abduction of the president of Ohaneze Youth Council, Comr. Igboayaka Igboayaka on February 8, 2025.
"To clarify, Comrade Igboayaka Igboayaka was arrested by officers from the command based on a petition submitted to the commissioner of police, which alleged he disseminated false information capable of truncating peace and destabilizing communities in Ebonyi State.
"The command is currently investigating these allegations, and once the investigation is concluded, he will be charged in court.
"Furthermore, the command reiterates its commitment to carrying out its mandate within the bounds of the law, while respecting the rights of individuals."
