The Chairman of the National Association of Community Health Practitioners in Nigeria, NACHPN Ebonyi State Chapter, Princess Chibueze Chetachi Jerry Osulor, has commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for engaging 328 community health practitioners for boosting health service delivery in the state.
Mrs Usulor, in a press statement made available to journalists in Abakaliki on Thursday, said that Governor Nwifuru has deployed the 328 registered community health practitioners from the selected primary healthcare centres across the 13 local government areas of Ebonyi to improve the working system of the health workforce in the state.
According to her, Governor Nwifuru has taken a bold step to enhance maternal and child healthcare delivery in considering his continuous transformation of the state health sector since assumed office.
"Your Excellency, we thank you for engaging over three hundred Registered Community Health Practitioners (RCHPs) as ad-hoc workers in various primary health centres in the state. This is in addition to the earlier recruitment of some of our members into the state civil service in 2024 by your administration.
"That's not all, the renovation and equipping of various public health facilities in the state by your administration are quite commendable, as this would go a long way in bringing back the state health sector to life.
"Your Excellency, as we assure you of our continuous support to your divine mandate administration, we pray God to grant you more grace, wisdom and good health to take our dear state to the next level of development.
"Our appreciation also goes to the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Moses Ikenna Ekuma, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Primary Health, Dr Sabinus Odinaka Nwibo and other relevant stakeholders in the state health sector for their commitment to revamping the health sector for quality health care delivery to the state.
"While we promise that we will not betray the confidence reposed on us, be rest assured that we will ensure that quality service delivery is not lacking in various facilities where our members are deployed.
"It is because the governor, through his administration's collaboration with the World Bank, organised an impactful orientation program for newly engaged Skilled Birth Attendants (SBAs) and improved Quality of Care (QoC) in health service delivery.
"We are very grateful that the governor has properly guided the 328 newly recruited community health workforce deployed across 164 selected primary healthcare facilities in the 13 local government areas of Ebonyi State.
"The SBAs play a great role in promoting effective healthcare delivery, which significantly reduces maternal and child mortality rates.
"We believe the health workers deployed for the assignment will be focused on ensuring self-development and high professional conduct in their service to the Ebonyi people.
"Therefore, we advise the health workers to demonstrate diligence, discipline, and commitment to their work to make Ebonyi people, especially the governor, proud," she said.
