The Eternal Brothers Club has explained the reason behind the change of its former name: United Brothers Club, noting that it aims towards eternal friendship of members.
The Deputy President of the Club, Dr Kelechukwu Okezie, said in an interview on Wednesday in Abakaliki that the uniqueness of the name, Eternal, stands out.
Okezie said that the name Eternal speaks for the value and mission of the club because eternal friendship and acomradeshipade are ideal virtues.
"We aim to continue supporting one another, bonding in love and enhancing members' welfare.
"We have made remarkable progress since the club's formation and we want to sustain such ideals and feats,".
He noted the former name United Brothers Club could be seen as common but even with biblical injunctions, anything eternal is unique.
"We have bonded as one and want such to remain till infinity,".
Okezie noted that the club's Easter Party/Award Night will be ideal and unique, showcasing the club's rich heritage.
"The event, which will be held on April 14, 2025, will witness a roll call of who is who in the society and Chaired by Ambassador Frank Ogbuewu, Former Nigerian Ambassador to Greece and Minister of Culture and Tourism.
"We would honour great men in Ebonyi and beyond;; individuals who have contributed to the growth and development of the state and Nigeria.
"Those to be honoured include: Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, Sen. Anthony Agbo, Hon. Emmanuel Uguru, Hon. Kenneth Ugbala and Chief Moses Ogodo-Ali.Nome.
"The club will also honour other Distinguished persons who include Senator Ken Eze, Rt. Hon. Barr. Idu Igariwey, Hon. Chimaobi Atu among others, including Captains of Industry.
He noted that the club will use the opportunity to inaugurate new members because belonging to the club was not something to be taken for granted.
"It is a rare privilege to be a member of the club because of its uniqueness which radiates and illuminates in glory.
"The cream of the society will be at the event and it will be a showcase of our men of Timber and Calibre,"
Okezie noted that the club, under the Leadership of Hon. Charles Akpu-Anika, with the able support of the EXCO and Members, has continued to grow in strength and value.
