As Christians all over the world celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from death, some concerned stakeholders in Ebonyi State have urged Christians to live a Christ-like life by showing love to each other, being brothers' keepers and above all forgiving the good of society.
They stated this during an easter celebration in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.
Speaking, the State Commissioner for Lands Dr Mathew Nwobashi explained that the easter celebration remains the foundation of Christianity. He opined that if Jesus Christ couldn't conquer death there would have been no hope for Christians, adding that easter is the foundation of Christian faith.
He enjoined Christians all over the world to reflect on the life of Christ who died for the sake of their sins by embracing all his teachings and doing other things that would help one to make heaven.
Similarly, the executive chairman of Abakaliki Local Government Area Hon. Ebere Nwogba described easter as a period of sober reflection, inward examination of one's life, forgiveness, reconciliation and above all love.
He charged Christians to refrain from any act capable of denying them access to heaven when they died as there is no repentance in the grave.
In the same vein, the executive chairman of Ishielu Local Government Area Hon. Peace Agwu said easter is the day set aside for the celebration of the triumph of Jesus Christ from death.
While acknowledging the fact that Christ died for the salvation of mankind, the council chairman called for true love, togetherness, and peace among Christians.
On his part, the Senior special assistant to the Governor on project monitoring Hon. Chukwuma Nwiboko tasked people to emulate the life of Jesus Christ who rose from death to save mankind from the power of darkness and sin while calling on Christians to exhibit a high-level of love among one another as exemplified by Christ by dying for the sins of the entire world for their own salvation.
Collaborating, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on secondary education Hon. Peter Nwogbaga also enjoined Christians to reflect on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ so as to inherit the kingdom of God.
However, they all appreciated Governor Francis Nwifuru for his infrastructural and human development in the State and urged Ebonyi people to keep supporting the Governor to take the State to the desired destination.
