The Eternal Brothers Club has elected a new executive for its Board of Trustees with the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Richard Idike emerging as the Chairman.
The club in the election held on Thursday in Abakaliki, saw all the contestants emerging unopposed most peacefully and credibly.
Hon. Uche Muoka.(Shaba) emerged Vice Chairman, Barr. Emeka Anosike - -Secretary and Chief Sunday Inyima - -State Commissioner for Capital City Development ---Duke (Liaison Officer)
The other elected officers include Hon.. Maxwell Umahi (Mayor) the Senior Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on Urban Development---Treasurer and Nze Jude Umegbolu - - Protocol.
The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Deacon Joseph Ununu (Zuma Rock) noted that the election was transparent as the contestants knew it was all about the call to service.
"The newly executive officers are men of proven integrity and it is expected that they would guide the club to greater heights.
"The convivial atmosphere here suggests the peaceful and acceptability of the election and I am proud to have delivered on the mandate given to me,".
Dr Kelechukwu Okezie, the Deputy President of the Club expressed joy over the outcome of the election, noting that it was beyond expectations
"You can see the atmosphere of love, comrade, unity, desire to uplift the club and invest in members' aspirations.
"I thank our President, Hon Charles Akpu-Anika for his indefatigable disposition which should receive a massive boost with the election of this calibre of men as BOT executive,".
Hon. Richard Idike in his acceptance speech, thanked the members for reposing unflinching confidence in him and promised not to disappoint them.
"We would keep the flag flying, make the club more standardised and operate higher than other clubs in Ebonyi and beyond.
"The officers are men of proven integrity and we pledge to collaborate with the club leadership under Hon. Charles Akpu-Anika who has done well in taking it to greater heights.'
The highlight of the occasion was the donation of N500,000 to the club by its member and Chief Executive Officer of Optimus Hotels Abakaliki where the election was held, Chief Emeka Ede.
Members present also made donations and offered goodwill messages
The club also used the opportunity to present its 2025 budget to the BOT with its Chairman Idike, promising that it will be painstakingly reviewed and submitted back to the House within a short period.
It will be recalled that the club in a bid to entrench efficiency and utmost functionality, recently conducted bye-elections to fill vacant positions in its executive.
The elected officers include: Dr Kelechukwu Okezie --Deputy President, Mr Uchechukwu Afudike--Assistant Secretary, Sct. Basil Onyejeme ---Asst. Financial Secretary and Comrade Emeka--Opara--Publicity Secretary.
The other elected officers include: Mr Nnamdi Onyedika ---Asst. Publicity Secretary, Provost 1--Mr Ebenezer Oyandu, Provost 2--Hon. Chidi Nwite, and Welfare Officer 2--- Mr Ikechukwu Ogbonna.
Hon. Emeka Onu was elected Welfare Officer 3 and Mr Christian Okereke -was ex-officio.
