The Eternal Brothers Club has honoured the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, Member representing Abakaliki/ Izzi Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Chief Emmanuel Uguru, among 15 other individuals who have distinguished themselves in various spheres of life, with meaningful contribution to the society.
The dignatories honoured alongside Nwebonyi, the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate and Uguru include Senator Ken Eze, Hon. Eze Nwachukwu Eze, Hon. Idu Igariwey and Hon. Chimaobi Atu, from Enugu state.
The other dignatories honoured at the glamorous ceremony held at the Monabliss Hotels Abakaliki include: Former Senator Anthony Agbo, Business Mogul Christian Asaga, Chief Moses Ogodo Ali Nome, Chief James Aroh Nweke, Hon. Kenneth Ugbala, Hon. Stanley Mbam, Barr. Chinedu Uburu among others.
The President of the Club, Hon. Charles Akpu-enika said that the occasion afforded an opportunity of retrospection, in determining how far it has gone since formation in 2021.
"A cursory look into the journey of the club since formation, will reveal that it has been ups and down but with determination and resilience we have grown today in leaps and bounds.
"From a humble beginning of 4 persons membership, added to another 10 persons without paying a dime, we today boast of 150 persons with an admission fee of N417,000.
"The club has a board of trustees led by eminent men of proven integrity integrity and great societal standing such as the Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports in Ebonyi State, Hon. Richard Idike, Hon. Uche Mouka, Hon. Maxwell Umahi among others.
The club president noted that the club has spent over N60 million on its permanent site behind the Abakaliki mechanic village.
"The singular object of the club is to promote love, social wellbeing and overall good of members as well as galvanise support for government at all levels in engineering and engendering good governance across the state.
"The individuals to be honoured, through their actions and philanthropy, have uplifted mankind and generally impacted greatly on the society.
"You will agree with me that the caliber of persons selected are welfare-driven personalities filled with love for humanity without segregation,".
He noted that the careful selection of the awardees, embodies the very ideals upon which the club was founded as the spotlight on them, serves as an inspiration to members and the society.
"Senator Nwebonyi for example, is being honoured as the Icon of Effective Representation for his unrivaled dedication to public service and unwavering commitment to his constituents.
"Hon. Uguru is a great patriot who has impacted on the club, his constituency and the entire state with his impactful representation and endearing leadership.
He paid glowing tributes to Governor Francis Nwifuru and his Predecessor and "Boss" The Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi for their encompassing leadership qualities that have brought accelerated development to Ebonyi and Nigeria.
"We appreciate the Ebonyi state governor for his passion, commitment and dedication in expanding the scope of aggressive urban and rural infrastructural development as well as human capital development.
"We also commend the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi for his superlative and superfluous representation of Ebonyi State.and Ndi Igbo in the Federal Executive Council through the attraction laudable projects,".
The Chairman of the Occasion, Ambassador Frank Ogbuewu, commended the club for the growth it has attained over the years, noting that it has excelled beyond expectations.
"This is an assemblage of industrious and committed individuals who have excelled in the society and contributed immensely to the development of the society.
"The name eternal signifies that the endearing friendship which we have witnessed among its members would last forever and this has accounted for the growth it has attained,".
Goodwill messages were delivered at the occasion by dignatories from all walks of life who testified to the club's unprecedented strides, as the club used the occasion to induct 13 new members.
Hon. Chris Uchaji who spoke on behalf of the newly inducted members pledged that they would abide with all regulations guiding the club and contribute meaningfully to its development.
The awardees also thanked the club for honouring them and appreciated the gesture which they said would encourage them to give back tremendously to the society.
