In a commendable move aimed at uplifting the downtrodden, the Ishielu Local Government Chairman, Mrs. Peace Ifeoma Agwu, has awarded a scholarship to an indigent child in the Ezilo community.
This initiative is part of her commitment to deliver the dividends of democracy to the less privileged in her jurisdiction.
During the scholarship award ceremony, Hon. Agwu expressed her determination to create opportunities for the underprivileged, emphasizing the importance of education in breaking the cycle of poverty.
She stated, “This scholarship is designed to step down the dividend of democracy to those who truly need it. Education is the key to a brighter future, and we must ensure that every child has access to it, regardless of their socio-economic background.”
Highlighting the support of the state Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, Agwu noted that her administration has provided the framework and opportunity for local government leaders to implement programs that align with the people’s charter of needs. “The governor's vision has inspired us to directly address the needs of the poor within our communities,” she added.
The awarded scholarship will cover the academic expenses of the child throughout their educational journey, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their pursuit of knowledge.
The initiative has been met with widespread approval from community leaders and residents, who see it as a beacon of hope for families struggling to afford education.
As Hon. Agwu continues her mission to foster education and empowerment, many in the Ezilo community are optimistic about the positive changes this scholarship will bring to the lives of their children.
