This is a critical reflection on the President Bola Tinubu administration and the state of the nation by Prince Amb. (Dr.) Adedipe Dauda Ewenla in Southwest PDP Ex-officio.
The current administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, popularly associated with the phrase "Emi Lokan," has increasingly demonstrated traits of corruption, selfishness, and a worrying disregard for the welfare of the Nigerian people. It is a government that appears more concerned with power retention than with solving the myriad issues plaguing the nation.
The National Assembly and the Judiciary, institutions meant to uphold justice and democratic values, now seem to be entangled in the same corrupt web. Their actions—or in many cases, inaction—reflect an unfortunate reality: they have become tools of political preservation rather than defenders of the people. As Prince Amb. (Dr.) Adedipe Dauda Ewenla rightly observes, these institutions no longer inspire confidence among Nigerians but instead contribute to the erosion of public trust.
One of the most urgent and tragic consequences of this failed leadership is the rampant insecurity affecting every part of the country. Nowhere is safe—not even the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Banditry, kidnappings, and terrorism have spread unchecked. Every day, our soldiers and police officers are dying or disappearing in the line of duty, yet the Tinubu-led APC government continues to act as if all is well. Their silence and apparent indifference are both shameful and dangerous.
It is clear that the burden of these failures falls hardest on the common man, who faces the daily threat of violence without adequate protection or support from the state. As a concerned patriot and advocate for justice, Prince Amb. (Dr.) Adedipe Dauda Ewenla calls upon all Nigerians to demand better from those in power. We must not remain silent while our nation bleeds.
Nigeria is at a crossroads. The current trajectory is unsustainable. For any meaningful progress to occur, there must be a complete overhaul of our leadership culture—one rooted in accountability, empathy, and true service to the people.
