Ebonyi State Police Command, has confirmed the abduction of the Coordinator of Ngbo Central Development Centre in Ohaukwu local government area of the state, Mrs Blessing Adagba by unknown gunmen.
The Command through its Spokesman, SP Joshua Ukandu who confirmed the incident, said, "The Anti-Kidnapping Squad is actively working to secure the immediate release of the victim."
NATIONAL PANEL gathered that tension has escalated in Ohaukwu Local Government Area following the shocking abduction of Mrs Adagba by unknown gunmen in the early hours of yesterday, sending shockwaves through her community.
Eyewitnesses told journalists that the abduction took place around midnight in the Okposhi Eheku community in Ohaukwu local government area.
One of them recounted, "Around 12 am, a group of men disguised as soldiers invaded the residence of Hon. Blessing Adagba. They demanded she open the door, but she refused, questioning why soldiers would come at such an hour."
"The situation escalated when the kidnappers brandished firearms, overpowering the development coordinator and forcibly abducting her to an unknown location," another eyewitness said.
Local stakeholders and security operatives in Ohaukwu are reportedly mobilizing efforts to ensure the safe return of the victim.
Community leaders have expressed their deep concern over the rise in such criminal activities, calling for increased security measures to protect residents.
"This incident has added to existing fears about safety and security in the local government, prompting a renewed call for vigilance and collaboration between law enforcement and the community," one of the community hinted.
